Garden Organics (GO)

City of Moreton Bay

When the City of Moreton Bay introduced its new green bin service, they knew they needed to make it more engaging to spark real community interest. Census data from 2021 revealed that the largest age group in the area was 10 to 14 years, with 20% of the population aged zero to 15 years. With a bit of digging, they realised that kids not only adapt to change quickly, but also have a surprising amount of influence at home, a concept known as “kidfluence.” This insight became a key part of shaping a campaign designed to inspire action through younger voices.

I was responsible for designing the ‘GoGo’ character and creating additional collateral, based on a brief that described him as “a round, green, loveable monster with a big mouth.” I explored a range of concepts with a playful, family-friendly tone, and once the final design was approved, GoGo became the fun, friendly face of the garden organics campaign.

Since his debut, GoGo has been popping up everywhere in the Moreton Bay region, on social media, billboards and bus stops, dressed in all kinds of outfits, animated and even brought to life as a real life mascot at events. He’s become a much loved character and a fun way to connect with the community.
